street entertainment.

Now that I'm an unemployed recluse, I miss seeing all the crazies that I used to see every day while staring out the window at my old place of employment. There are a few old favorites still lingering here in San Luis; Ed, the elderly man with glossy jet-black hair who carries a sign with apocalyptic Bible quotes on it, or Elvis, the tall skinny old guy with sideburns and a leather jacket, who I saw yesterday arranging some Mardi Gras beads on his head like a crown.

The thing about both these guys is that they're not all that crazy...well, they're pretty crazy, but since I kind of got to know them personally when I worked at the local frozen yogurt shop many years ago, it's different. Like, I know that Elvis has an ailing wife whom he cares for, or that Ed used to pick up his little grandchildren from school sometimes. When I turn crazy, I'd like to be able to do my crazy business, but still get to do other stuff too.

Last week, I read a nice article in the San Francisco paper about a Market Street fixture. It reminded me of old times, and old crazies. Here's the link. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/02/06/PKGVIB4E271.DTL I wish I remembered how to make the link say "article about crazy guy," instead of all those letters and numbers, but I don't. Anyway, this guy rules. I think he has some really solid ideas, and I can't wait to meet him.
