Resources

Love crafts? Got problems? Me too! Here are some of the resources I use to help me out with depression and anxiety:

  • The Mental Illness Happy Hour: This is an awesome podcast featuring all of your favorite hilarious, successful people talking about their mental health struggles. It's really helpful. And funny.
  • YogaYak: Free yoga and meditation videos done by totally normal-looking people with non-perky voices.
  • Maria Bamford's Links that Help: Maria is an amazing comedian and pug-loving nice person who has OCD and anxiety. I love her. This list was inspired by the one she compiled.
  • Be Free Where You Are by Thich Nhat Hanh: A great introduction to mindfulness.
  •  The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression by Andrew Solomon: This book is epic, intertwining the author's own total meltdown with a history of depression and its causes. This is the book I'd want all my friends and family members to read.
  • Close Knit: A crafter in Toronto shares the story of how craft and depression have intertwined in her life.
