A short list of books I have enjoyed, read or re-read recently:

Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
Gertrude by Herman Hesse
Wake Up, I'm Fat! by Camryn Manheim
Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis
The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh
This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Blink is one of those "number one bestsellers that's actually good." It's all about snap decisions and what happens when people either follow their instinct or don't. Usually I can be pretty bored by non-fiction, especially if it's scientific in nature, but this book is so interesting. I think it's always fun to dissect how people fuck up, and Blink offers a lot of insight into some pretty big mistakes that could have been avoided if people were more aware of their thought processes. Read it.

Buy it from Barnes and Noble, read it, and then return it, saying you just didn't like it, or you thought it was a different book. A convenient and easy way to read hot new hardcovers without those tiresome library waiting lists.
