GYM TAN LAUNDRY

I am seriously tempted by this bag from Nerdy Kids Vintage. In other news, when did Pringles lose their apostrophe?
I don't think I could ever be on Jersey Shore, but I am one step closer to this lofty goal. I WENT TO THE GYM. Remember last year when I went to the POOL? This is like that, but bigger. Public exercise is one of my biggest anxieties, but after a really refreshing week in LA and San Luis Obispo, I somehow gathered the strength to walk down the street, pay the exorbitant walk-in fee (I'm not allowed to buy any more gym memberships until I prove that I can actually enter the building more than once), and plop myself down on a stationary bike.

On her therapist: "She said I was afraid of success, which may in fact be true, because I have a feeling that fulfilling my potential would really cut into my sitting around time."
It felt really great to have "a win," even one that sounds totally ridiculous and tiny to the anxiety layperson. I also did something that I've been meaning to for ages; I created a page on this blog that compiles a bunch of the resources that I think are helpful for healthy times. It's called "Resources," and it's up at the top left. Take a look and let me know what you think; I'm taking suggestions and will add anything up there! I was inspired by Maria Bamford, a totally awesome and successful comedian who talks about her depression and OCD in the bestest way and has a big old collection of links to things that have helped her out. Also, Sarah Silverman is surprisingly (or not surprisingly?) candid about her mental health issues. I'm indebted to these successful, hilarious women. So, enjoy! I may or may not be at the gym.

Thanks for the resources! I love Maria Bamford...

I have been so excited about the move coming up, but my anxiety and depression will probably sneak up on me as soon as Randy starts the new job.

One of the things I need to work on is going places by myself. There are so many friends in Portland I want to see, but I am already afraid I will get lost or not be brave enough, then turn around and go home. :/ I CAN DO THIS.

My OCD has been helping me pack and organize. :)

Oh! And high fives for getting out to the gym! That's a big deal!

Congratulations on getting to the gym! I know some people are reticent to try it out, like you, but here’s a great tip: Just remember that everyone in that gym is there for the same reason as you are. Everybody in that gym wants to get and stay healthy. So, there’s definitely nothing to be embarrassed about.

You did the right thing, beating that anxiety and going to the gym. It will be much effective if you’re gonna work out regularly. Asking for some help from reliable instructors is good because they know the right program for you. In the long run, you can handle things on your own.

It would be better if you return to the pool, Polly. Swimming offers something no other aerobic exercise has, you know, one of which is the ability to work one's body without any harsh impact on his/her skeletal system. Plus, you don't need a machine to do it. :P

Good for you, Polly. I'm pretty sure you'll slim down, not literally slim down, but it will make you physically fit. The mind set of those people in the gym is to stay fit and healthy, and I know you'll adopt their mentality as well. Just continue going to the gym because it can bring your confidence back and make you proud of your figure.
