Never Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth

Against all odds, I have been working since Saturday. I have been temporarily hired as a "Powerpoint Specialist," but my nametag says "AV Technician." I'm working ten-hour days at an international convention of orthopedic surgeons, and I've learned a lot. Namely, that there are a lot of orthopedic surgeons in this world.

I've also learned that sometimes, the more you get paid, the less work you actually do. This is currently the case, and while I am refusing to complain about it, there are high levels of boredom involved. My fellow temps are a wonderful motley crew of people with very different lives and priorities, and it's been fun getting to know them.

Today is my day off, and I wanted to catch up on what's been going on with me lately! It's been a busy month filled with guests, which means I've been doing a lot of leisure activities. We went to the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park, wine tasting in Sonoma, bike riding all around our neighborhood, and eating, eating, and eating. There might be more restaurants in this city than orthopedic surgeons.

I'm spending today doing all the things I need to get done before I go back for five more relentless days of standing around watching doctors scurry around Moscone Center. I'd like to end this post with something wonderful and apropos; my new favorite member of the medical profession, Dr. Steve Brule, talking about wine tasting. Enjoy!
